Chief Keller had asked me to look into the matter involving the skateboard equipment being struck on the Lakewood Village roadway.  I reviewed the officer’s documentation and also watched the video from the specific officer’s body camera.  While the White Lake Police Department is happy to see children outside playing and being kids, we also hope that they are being safe and properly supervised at the same time.  The White Lake Police Department does not authorize or give anyone permission to place items on or play on the roadways with disregard for traffic laws.  The White Lake Police Department treats traffic safety and the welfare of our residents with the utmost importance.  Roadways are meant for vehicular travel and should be treated as such.  I hope that this helps clarify any misconception or misinterpretations.

Thank you for your questions and concerns,
