Boating and fishing are activities that LVIA members enjoy. Please stay up to date on the rules and laws.
Summary of rules: Please travel counter-clockwise, adhere to No Wake Zones, which include all canals in Lakewood Village, and be mindful of children playing at the shore as you go by on your boat.
As a courtesy to our neighbors and excessive erosion and potential damage to docks and boats, please keep your boat speeds down until the high water on Lake Neva and Brendel Lake subside.
Another reminder: please inspect how your boat is moored to your dock. Every year we get calls from folks whose boats have been damaged due to increased boat travel caused by the wake of a passing boat. Many times they think it is because the boat came to close to their dock. Many folks do not realize that when a wake is generated, even if it is in the middle of the lake, it will travel at the same height until it hits something (a sea wall, a dock or a boat).
When the water is high, much of the “normal dock line length” to moor the boat is used up as the boat gets higher compared to the dock or sea wall it is moored to. We recommend that you check and adjust the dock line lengths to the appropriate length to handle a different “travel range”.
